Wch-675: North Carolina Chest of Drawers in the Restauration Style:
A bold North Carolina Chest of Drawers in the Restauration Style, c.1835-45. Of solid cherry and walnut with yellow pine secondary, the chest brilliantly juxtaposes a diminutive size with an exaggerated set of contrasts: angles to curves, light to dark, herringbone solid wood effect from drawers to drawer and on each colomn. Even the galery repeats the angles that began on the scrolled feet. Replaced pulls and right back splash. Only a gifted craftsman could see such amazing possibilities in a cheery tree! 51"h., 36"w., 22"d. $1,800

c.1715-30 Regence country French oak bowfront commode with panel decorated drawer fronts & sides. Molded vertical stiles. Louis XVI period bronze hardware replaces the original steel hardware. Typical restoration for the age. 46" w., 21" d., 31" h. $6,000.

Wch-705: Empire Commode, stamped :
An important signed c.1805-15 Empire Commode of mahogany veneers on oak with black granite top. Drawer over 3 set back drawers flanked by half columns with original gilt bronze mounts. Appropriate, replaced pulls. The first recessed drawer is stamped "Gamichon à Paris". Listed maker with various commissions for Napoleon I's court. 50" w., 23 1/2" d., 36 1/4" h. SOLD

A fine and bold c.1780 German walnut commode, the case with outset center above a carved apron panel, - all reflecting the neoclassical taste of the period. Raised on turned, tapered feet mirroring the corners with fluting. Original snap locks (locked until key is turned - immediately snapping locked again). Superb matching of the veneers. Original pulls - replaced escutcheons. 48 3/4"w., 26"d., 34"h. $6,500

A splendid William IV 7-drawer tall chest of fine mahogany raised on stylish plinth base. Oak drawer linings with quarter molding. Superb construction, including dove-tailed median drawer supports. Original turned wooden pulls, 2 with repairs. Finish cleaned and waxed. 44" w., 22" d., 53"h. $3,800

Wch-721z: Italian Bombe Form Marquetry Commode:
A superb Italian bombe marquetry commode, probably Milan, c.1800 with later interior repairs. The dramatic shape exemplifies Italian rococo, as does the contrasting square block parquetry spectacularly enhanced by star inlays on the sides and as dramatic escutcheons. Walnut & walnut veneers. Awesome shell fossil marble top, the underside showing skilled inlaid steel rod repairs for stabilizing old cracks. One rear leg repair. Minor veneer repairs. No restorations that are not commensurate with the age of the commode. 48" w., 26" d., 36" h. $18,000

A late 18th century George III country oak chest of drawers, 2 over 3, of fine color & originality. Well proportioned bracket feet. Note the wonderful tigered diagonal grain patterns in the drawers. Replaced pulls. 41 1/8" w., 19 5/8" d., 38 1/8" h. $2,600

A fine c.1765 George III mahogany chest on chest raised on powerful, original bracket feet. Lamb's tongue & molded corners, reflected shape to crown, & motif repeated on base. Fine timbers & veneers. Rococo gilt brass hardware (apparently original). Dentil molding. Oak secondary wood. 44 1/4" w., 23 1/4" d., 74" h. $9,500

A George III mahogany Scottish chest of 3 over 3 drawers, c.1780, now with period feet borrowed from another chest. This piece began with bracket feet, was "updated in 1830" with turned feet and restored perhaps 75 years ago. 39 1/2" w., 21 1/2" d., 36" h. $2,800

A 19th century English 9 drawer plinth based pine collector's chest, each drawer with sliding glass cover. The drawers have stops to prevent damage. Back unhinges to allow sliding out the glass covers to alter the displays. 25"h x 19.5"w x 11.5"d $1,350
