Set of 4 c.1735-55 Italian walnut side chairs in mostly original blue paint & silver leaf; losses. Note the asymmetry of the carving at each crest rail. Provenance: Sotheby's of London, in Florence, Villa Dell 'Ombrellino, estate of Violet Trefusis, May 25-26, 1973, lot 71. While noted as repainted the flaked surface provide no such evidence. Violet Trefusis was the daughter of Mrs. George Keppel, the famous mistress of King George VII. Violet inherited Ombrellino from her mother and father.
