Wof-2112: Elm & Ash Buffet a Deux Corps
A richly carved elm & ash Buffet a Deux Corps form Caux in Normandy (Cauchois), c.1830. The pronounced crown molding starts and stops with fluting, creating a dentil molding effect and the corners are carved in a drapery motif. The whole is lushly and deeply carved with flowers and foliage on the apron, doors and crest rail and used to particularly good effect along the central uprights - carrying the eye upwards. The feet have been tipped. The upper doors enclose shaped shelves, one with 2 attached drawers.
53" w., 21 1/4" d., 91" h.
